Luton and Dunstable quartet dance with delight at World Cup showing

A quartet from the Anne Gale School of Dance have just competed in the Dance World Cup competition.
Lutonians Katie Rioch and Sophie Hunt, plus Amy Roberts and Jayda Moyse from Dunstable (all aged 11) were selected amongst hundreds of entries to represent Team England and perform their ‘character quartet’ at Brighton’s Dome Theatre.

Dancers from all over the world took part, including Spain, Italy, Germany and Japan. Styles of dance ranged from hip hop to ballet and the competition finished on Saturday afternoon.

This is the first time that the competition has been held in England, as last year it was held in Austria and the year before Paris.

The Anne Gale quartet was placed eighth which means they are one of the top ten quartets in the world.

The girls’ dance teacher Emily Hancock said: “I am so proud of how well they performed and what they have achieved. It was such an exciting and educational experience for them and something that they will remember for the rest of their lives.”
