Minute's applause planned for tragic Ethan

Tributes have been paid to a Dunstable family killed in a horror crash in Berkshire on Wednesday.

Tracy Houghton, aged 45, her sons Ethan aged 13, 11-years-old Josh and Amy Goldsmith, aged 11, the daughter of Tracy’s partner Mark died at the scene.

Mark Goldsmith and his 13-year-old son Jake, who were travelling in a car behind, were injured in the multi vehicle collision on the A34 near East Ilsley.

The families had been returning from a camping holiday.

This week Ethan’s school All Saints Academy, opened its doors to allow schoolmates to pay their condolences and lay flowers and tributes.

One friend wrote: “Ethan, you were an amazing boy, our sdance classes were jokes and our music lessons with you were such fun.”

Another wrote: “I used to look forward to my science lessons because you would always make me smile.”

A school spokesman said: “Following the sad news about Ethan, the Academy will be holding an open day on the 15th August.

“There will be books both of condolences and memories for anyone who wishes to use them.

“Support will be available for students who require help during this difficult time.

“Our thoughts are with you.”

Ethan also played in the Under 14s team for Dunstable Town and Club director John McLoughlin said: “This has come as a massive shock to Dunstable Town FC and we will make sure Ethan gets the respect he deserves on Saturday against Chesham.

“A minute’s applause from every youth team up to the first team will applaud on the pitch.

“My heart felt sympathy and prayers go to his family and friends.”

Josh played for AFC Dunstable and this week the club said: “All at AFC Dunstable send our condolences to the family. Josh will be missed by all his team mates at AFC.”

Tracy worked for Central Bedfordshire Council and a spokesamn said: “This terrible news has come as a great shock to everyone who knew Tracy, who worked within our financial services team based in Dunstable.

“Tracy worked directly with our customers and was a dedicated and highly professional member of staff.”

Her team leader, Gary Muskett, said: “Tracy was a hugely likeable and bubbly person who was much admired by her colleagues, many of whom saw her also as a dear friend.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with her family.”

People paid tribute on social media with Nadine Anderson saying: “Words cannot express the sadness, she was a beautiful person inside and out with lovely children and family x”.

Jill Bryden said: “Oh god, feeling shocked lovely Tracy RIP. Only saw her last week was going on holiday . Thoughts with her family bless you and your children my lovely xx”

A 30-year-old man from Andover was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until October 5.
