A caring, family-run travel agency will soon be opening another office in Dunstable, helping to transform the town into a thriving district.
The Silford family got the keys for their new Suitcase Travel office at Queensway, just last week, aiming to be open in around one month.
The mum, dad and daughter trio will be running their business with experienced staff member, Kimberley Rayneau, providing “exciting, fully financially protected” deals to destinations from America to East Asia.
Daughter and marketing executive, Penny, said: “My dad, Mike, has been in travel nearly all of his life. When he left school he got a job in a travel agency and he then had his own tour operating business in London.
“We can offer you what you want from bucket and spade holidays to cruises to safaris.
“Whilst online travel websites can offer great deals, some won’t tell you hidden catches, for example, a deal to Thailand might be cheap, but they won’t tell you that it’s the rainy season - or your flight may be cancelled and you’d still be charged for the hotel!
“We wouldn’t allow that, and work really closely with tour operators.”
After taking a break from the travel world, the family ran Perfect Profiles dental clinic in Houghton Regis, before selling up last year and deciding to move back into the holiday business in August, with an office already in Ashton Square.
Whilst raising the family, Mike’s wife, Lyn, used to deal with his admin accounts, and Penny has followed in the family footsteps.
Penny said: “We all get on really, really well. We work efficiently, and can understand what each other means. I have learnt so much from them!
“We chose Dunstable because it’s a really friendly community and everyone has been so helpful. It has really built itself up.”
