Om Group prepares to do ‘sewa’ for hospice

THE Hindu philosophy of sewa – selfless service to others – proved a huge hit at Keech Hospice Care last year.

Members of Luton youth group OM helped out in the build-up to Christmas and enjoyed it so much they’re paying a return visit later this month with double the number of volunteers.

Co-ordinator Ravi Shah said: “We realised it was a rewarding and life-changing experience where we gained self-satisfaction as well as inner peace.

“This year we’ve got various activities scheduled including painting and decorating children’s bedrooms, tidying garden sheds, painting garden fences, plastering walls, laying wooden floor and assembling cupboards as well as integrating with the children and adults at the hospice.

“We’re also planning a vegetarian barbecue.”

Ravi is keen for others to share his commitment to sewa. “Until you try it, you won’t realise the impact you will be able to make,” he said. “Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to change your life, as well as the lives of others.”
