But the 30-year-old from Half Moon Lane is “nearly” back to his old self and on Saturday, September 12, is taking part in a charity bike ride in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity.

The former Manshead Upper School student said: “I feel really positive about life now although I’ve still got a couple of issues, like lumps on my head which are sore when I wear things such as caps or hard hats. I’ve also lost a random patch of hair at the front of my head which I’m quite conscious about.

“But I’ve been incredibly lucky – and riding my bike has helped me no end.

“Now I’d like to help out the charity by doing something in return for what they – and the NHS - did for me.”

Murray is looking forward to The Mount Snowdon Rise and Descent challenge which involves cycling up the Llanberis path, then down the Ranger path.
