‘Over the moon’ Ricky Miller found not guilty of assault on taxi driver

As the jury of seven men and five women delivered their verdict at Luton Crown Court this afternoon, Mr Miller visibly welled up with emotion.

He told Luton News: “I just feel like justice has been done.”

Mr Miller, 26, had been accused of racially abusing and headbutting an Asian taxi driver in Hockliffe following a night out in Milton Keynes on April 27.

The news garnered national headlines following Mr Miller’s arrest and he was subsequently let go by Luton Town Football Club.

“Straight away I got sacked”, said Mr Miller. “I lost my house, I had to sign on ... couldn’t even go out to any restaurant at night.

“The whole time I’ve told everybody what really happened.”

Following his departure from Luton Town Football Club, Mr Miller signed back to his former club Dover Athletic.

He said: “They’ve been absolutely brilliant, and they said ‘Whatever the outcome Ricky, you’re loved down here’.

“It’s just been a stressful time for me and my family.”

As for the future, he added: “Just to work hard and score some goals.”
