The lights are outside Linden House Nursery and Tudor House care home, and have reportedly not been working since August.

The woman, who does not wish to be named, has contacted the council through phone and social media to report the problem and has been told that they will be fixing them.

She said: “The traffic lights have not been working since the summer holidays, so at least August, it might even be longer.

“I have reported it to the council a few times and Tweeted them and the response is always the same, they are fixing them.

“But it has been two months now and they are still broken. It is near a nursery and my daughter walks home from school that way.

“I am having to meet my daughter there after school each day as people are not stopping to allow her to cross the road safely.

“There are other crossings but you have to cross Icknield Street to get to them and the roads can be very busy during school time.

“It is dangerous and the council need to get them fixed, it should have been done by now really.”

A spokesperson for Central Bedfordshire Council said: “Our lighting team are going to investigate and get these fixed.”

The woman contacted the Gazette on Monday, she said: “I walked past them this morning, the lights are still not fixed, it is like the council are not bothered.

“This can be quite a dangerous road and it is the way quite a few children will walk to school and parents, with buggies, to the nursery.”
