Boost for Dunstable Foodbank thanks to Amazon

A foodbank has received a £1,000 donation from the team at Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Dunstable.

Dunstable Foodbank works to combat poverty and hunger in Dunstable by providing a minimum of three days’ worth of healthy, balanced meals and emotional support to people who are in need.

The donation from Amazon will be used to benefit the local community by purchasing key food supplies for food parcels, as well as supporting the Foodbank Warehouse with much-needed hardware in order to manage the increased demand on the Foodbank's service.

Klara Bradacova, an employee from Amazon in Dunstable who nominated the charity for support, said: “I know many people in the community have benefited from Dunstable Foodbank. The staff and volunteers make such a big impact to peoples’ lives and that is why I’m so pleased Amazon can support the charity with this donation.”

Omer Kartal, General Manager at Amazon in Dunstable, added: “We’re pleased to make this donation to Dunstable Foodbank on behalf of Klara Bradacova. This is a crucial time for foodbanks to receive as much support as possible and I’m delighted that we could lend a helping hand.”

Jemma Watkeys, Operations Manager from Dunstable Foodbank, added: “We are thrilled to receive this support from the team at Amazon in Dunstable. Foodbanks are needed more than ever and we can’t do what we do without the support of the local community, so thank you, Amazon team.”

The donation to Dunstable Foodbank was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
