Dunstable author shortlisted for Football Book of the Year after writing about women in the sport

She’s already written three well-received books on the subject

Dunstable author Carrie Dunn’s latest book about the rise of women’s football has been shortlisted for a prize.

The former Queensbury pupil had her book ‘Unsuitable for Females: The Rise of the Lionesses and Women's Football in England' nominated for the Football Book of the Year prize at the 2023 Sports Book Awards.

She tells the story of women’s football in England from its 19th Century inception right up to the Lionesses’ 2022 Euro triumph, in the revised edition coming out next month. Carrie, who now lives Wales, said: “I’m so pleased to have the chance to tell their stories, highlighting everything we’ve done and the challenges we’re still grappling with.”

She will find out of she has bagged the award at the Kia Oval on May 25. She has two more books out this year: 'The Reign of the Lionesses: How European Glory Changed Women's Football in England', and 'Woman Up - Pitches, pay and periods: the progress and potential of women's football’.
