The Emerald Pipe Band gave Irish ambassador Martin Fraser and Bedfordshire Lord-Lieutenant Susan Lousada a rousing welcome when they visited Luton Irish Forum on Tuesday (June 6).

The VIPs were then treated to a roof-raising rendition of Molly Malone from the LIF Choir – which led the ambassador to comment that the reception he’d received was the best he’d ever had and that LIF were one of the most effective organisations in the UK.

As a nod to his Dublin roots, LIF art club member Joanne Close presented him with her painting of the Dubliner Pub.

Mrs Lousada struck lucky on the raffle and donated her prize of biscuits and chocolates to Community Choices Adult Social Care.

Other guests included Luton South MP Rachel Hopkins and Luton deputy mayor Zanib Raja, as well as members of Luton Town Football Trust and Boxing Saves Lives.
