More than 20 local students have been given life changing film-making experience – learning new skills and edging a step closer to securing the careers of their dreams.

Luton-based creative agency Clearhead opened its doors to school, college and university students this month, holding a one-day filmmaking event as part of its 15th birthday celebrations.

Gavin O’Brien, a former University of Bedfordshire student who set up Clearhead with his schoolfriend Alex Lawrence, said: “We are a company with a global reputation, proof, if it was needed, that Luton is at the heart of digital innovation and creativity. As a team and a business, we are passionate about promoting Luton, recruiting local talent and supporting a new generation of local creatives.”

Co-founder Alex added: “This wasn’t just about providing some work experience. It was about inspiring, motivating and giving our young people a unique opportunity to work with and learn from our award-winning team.”

Clearhead has grown from a modest bedroom-based business in 2007 to what is today an award-winning agency with state-of-the-art offices tucked in Luton’s Hat District.

Since the creative taster day Clearhead has pledged to offer work experience placements to at least five local students every year.

Alex added: “Luton has one of the youngest populations in the country and while this brings opportunities, it also means that many young people will be leaving education at a time of significant economic uncertainty. This has been our way of helping this workforce of the future.”
