School is still outstanding

DELIGHTED staff and children at a middle school in Toddington are celebrating an outstanding OFSTED inspection this week.

Parkfields Middle School in Park Road were marked as ‘outstanding’ in every single category, and were told they had improved since their inspection in June 2008 when they also got outstanding in everything.

About 16 per cent of schools in the country are judged to be outstanding, and new Ofsted guidelines, said to be tougher, were introduced in January.

Headteacher David Brandon-Bravo said: “The bottom line is that everyone here works extremely hard to ensure that the pupils flourish, learn and grow.

“Together with excellent recently published KS2 and KS3 results, this endorsement from Ofsted means the school will continue to go from strength to strength, educating children to the very highest standard.”

Some of the comments from Ofsted included that the pupils take great pride in their school, are outstandingly well cared for and feel extremely safe.

The partnership between the governing body and the leadership team was described as an “uncompromising pursuit of excellence” and inspectors said the parents are clearly aware of how fortunate they are to send their children to Parkfields.

The Ofsted inspection report said: “This is an outstanding school. It has improved since its last inspection, when it was also found to be outstanding.

“Pupils flourish in an environment that fosters their academic progress and broader social development exceptionally well”.
