Six in hospital after two-car crash near Dunstable Rugby Club

Six people, including three children, were injured in a two-car crash in Houghton Regis at the weekend.

The collision happened shortly after 2.35pm on Saturday on the A5120 Bedford Road, close to the junction with Thorn Road.

A black Audi A3 containing a female driver and three children, aged five, eight and nine, and a grey Ford Fiesta containing two adults, a female driver and male passenger, were involved.

All six were taken either to Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge , or the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. Four were detained and the injuries of three were said to be serious..

PC Andy Ralph, from the forensic collision investigation unit, said: “This was an extremely serious collision that required all three emergency services, with the assistance of two air ambulances, to deal with it.

“I’d like to thank all those from the rugby club who assisted prior to the arrival of the emergency services.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to come forward who may have seen this collision or been in the area and noticed either the black Audi A3 or grey Ford Fiesta around the time of 2.30pm.”
