Size matters for Blow’s Downs

THE wildlife reserve at Blow’s Downs has been extended as compensation for habitat lost to the Luton Dunstable Busway.

Three areas of adjacent have been added as part of deal with Luton Borough Council, and the Wildlife Trust plans to establish flower-rich meadows.

Funds from the busway project will be used to manage the new land and fund community projects.

Cottage Bottom Fields, at the southern end of the downs, is also now being managed by the trust, taking the reserve from 46 hectares up to 75.
