Snow causes traffic chaos

Falling at the weekend though did bring a bit of family fun to the equation as many took the opportunity for a bit of sledging in the county’s parks.

Parsons Close Rec in Leighton was a hot spot as the gentle slope provided a great spot for littlies to play.

Meanwhile, temperatures remained at zero degrees for most of Sunday and icy conditions are predicted for Monday. Rain and sleet may follow.

Possible disruptions to flights from Luton Airport are expected and the advise is to contact your airline before travelling.

A spokesman said: “London Luton Airport would like to advise that due to adverse weather, flight departures and arrivals may be subject to delay there are currently no cancellations.

”Passengers and those coming to the airport are advised to contact their airline directly for further information and check the airport website for flight information updates. Airline contact details can be found on our website www.london-luton.com”

Central Beds Council and Luton Borough Council are gritting roads and Central Beds may consider 24 hour gritting if the zero temperatures continue. Both councils grit after peak times, usually evenings.
