For instance, Fred the tabby cat is very affectionate, but would better suit a family with older children.

Hide AdThree-year-old Jack and Jill are friendly but timid cats that need to be homed together and will be fine with small children.
Bev explained that the summer was usually a difficult time to re-home cats. She said: “Everything is slowing down, except the number of cats coming in.
“We are getting more and more phone calls from owners about giving up their cats, which could be the credit crunch sifting through.”
For families with children, there are many young female cats who are very affectionate and would make great family pets. These include Tilly, Mary, Gilly, Moonstone and Peanut.

Hide AdSponsorship or a foster family is needed for cats needing further vet treatment, such as Cuddles the bald Maine Coon, who needed his fur clipped as it was matted.
Stray Cat Rescue are even having difficulty homing kittens, which usually find new homes quickly.
