The Rotary Club of Dunstable Downs is inviting ambitious residents to join its mission to help charities far and wide - and those on its doorstep at home in Bedfordshire!
Based in Tilsworth, kind-hearted members are hoping new faces will join their group, which helps causes from cancer charities and carnivals to community concerts and children’s days out.
The busy members’ local duties include arranging the L&D children’s ward Christmas party, taking the elderly on day trips, collecting money for charities, and raising money for Weatherfield Academy.
Malcolm Woods, Rotarian and speaker finder, said: “Rotary is a service organisation that seeks to benefit the community by providing enthusiasm and skills to create events that raise money for local and international charities.
“Over the years we have raised thousands for worthwhile causes. Recently, we have donated to Great Ormand Street Hospital, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Bedfordshire Prostate Cancer awareness. We have also contributed in funding along with a million Rotarians worldwide in helping to eradicate polio.”
The Rotary Club of Dunstable Downs was inaugurated in 1982, sponsored by the existing Rotary Club of Dunstable.
The friendly group meets on Thursdays from 7.30pm at Tilsworth Golf Club.
There is a three course meal before business and charity discussion.
