A schoolgirl from Luton is hoping to reach the final stages of the Miss Teen Great Britain contest.
Emmanuella Kyeremma, 15, a year 11 student at Lea Manor High School, has reached the semi-finals and is now waiting to hear if she is through to the finals, being held in Blackpool in October.
She reached the semi-finals after photographs were judged by a panel and the teenager was delighted with their comments.
She said: “The feedback I got a couple of days after was incredible. They said they really love the way I style my hair. Miss Teen Great Britain also said my eyes are striking.
“Being a semi-finalist feels really surreal. I have no idea what I would feel if I find out on July 1 I am a finalist. But one thing I know for sure is I would definitely be a voice for young children who need help to feel positive about themselves.
“I’m all about female empowerment and I know that being a part of Miss Teen Great Britain would help me encourage young people to feel good about themselves and not follow the stereotypical image of a model.”
The final of Miss Teen Great Britain will be held at The Globe, Blackpool Pleasure Beach on October 24 and 25.
Emmanuella added: “Being in the semi-final feels amazing and I can’t wait for what the future holds for me.”
The winner of Miss Teen Great Britain will receive £1,000 along with a Miss Teen sash and crown, along with other prizes.
