Telling stories about Luton

Young people in Luton are being encouraged to take part in an interactive media project that has been funded by The Big Lottery.

Telling Stories will be run by teams of youngsters working at every level - from designing its look to presenting it and recording, distributing and discussing its contents.

The project will give people from diverse backgrounds a safe place from which to speak about their feelings, beliefs and life experiences.

A Facebook page has been set up with stories by local and international role models such as broadcaster Sarfraz Manzoor and American author Maya Angelou to inspire 18 to 30-year-olds to send in theirs.

The page – facebook.com/tellingstories2016 – will run until the end of September.

The stories will then be reviewed and put together in a lasting publication.
