The five – Amy Goodship and Amilla Randall from Toddington, Chloe Humphreys and Katie Tearle from Luton and Jessica Marshall from Barton – were among 200 young hopefuls who attended an audition at the Gordon Craig Theatre in June.

Only 100 – aged between eight and 18 – were chosen.

EYB founder and director Janet Lewis MBE was on the lookout for the hottest young dance talent to join her award-winning company for the Stevenage production.

“English Youth Ballet is all about providing extra performance experience to young dancers.”

Principal dancer Amy Drew said rehearsals were going well and added: “There’s a unique and wonderful synergy taking place because all the young dancers learn so much from watching each other – and the professionals.”
