Thug punched elderly woman in Luton '˜several times' to steal handbag

A vicious thug punched an elderly woman in Luton several times in order to steal her handbag.

The shocking robbery happened on Beechwood Road on Tuesday, June 7.

At around 9.15am, the woman was walking towards Dunstable Road when the man approached her from behind.

He grabbed her bag and demanded she handed it over, punching her several times before making off with the bag which contained over £500 in cash.

The yob is described as white, in his 30s, tall and slim. He was wearing a bright green hoody.

PC Katy Watts said: “We are urging anyone with information to contact us immediately. Robbery is a nasty crime and is a terrifying ordeal for the victim. We are committed to finding those responsible, to protect the public and prevent further incidents.”
