Brandon Aubrey Arnold, 15, died after his motorcycle collided with a lamp post in Denham Close, Luton, on March 29.

An inquest into the death, which was opened and adjourned yesterday, heard that at the time of the crash Brandon was riding on the pavement without a crash helmet.

The 15-year-old, known to friends as Ajay, was discovered by paramedics in a critical condition and was taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

His death was confirmed later that day.

In the aftermath of the tragedy flowers, balloons and messages were left for the teen close to the scene of the collision, which is near Whitefield Primary School.

Candles which spell out the boy’s name were also laid out.

A full inquest hearing will take place at Bedfordshire and Luton Coroner’s Court in Ampthill on October 11.
