Luton Dunstable Busway crash leaves 32 injured

A collision between two buses left more than 30 injured on Saturday.

Following the crash, which occurred at around 3pm on the Luton Dunstable Busway, 15 passengers were taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital.

East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) says that five of those were left with serious injuries while ten others were “walking wounded”.

Paramedics treated and assessed 17 other passengers at the scene.

EEAST dispatched six ambulance crews and a hazardous area response team to the scene, while Bedfordshire Fire Service also sent three fire engines and a rescue unit.

Luton Borough Council says it is waiting on the conclusion of a Beds Police investigation into the collision.

In a statement Centrebus said: “A full investigation is now underway to try and establish what caused the incident and we continue to work with the police, DVSA and the local authority with regards to this matter.

“We understand that a number of passengers were injured on Grant Palmer’s and our vehicle, as a result of the two buses colliding at around 15.00hrs.”
