A huge crash has closed three lanes on the M1 as shoppers head out on the final Saturday before Christmas.
Highways England reports that emergency services are on the scene on the northbound side between Junction 12 for Toddington and 13 for Milton Keynes but queues are stacking up back to Luton.
One lane is open past the scene and traffic was briefly held.
Traffic is also tailing back on the A5 as drivers attempt to find an alternative route around the queues.
