Travellers’ rest for community growth

PLANS to accommodate the growth of the travelling community for nearly the next 20 years are being prepared by Central Beds Council.

A single gypsy and traveller document will provide pitches for families in the area until 2031.

The council are inviting landowners, developers and other interested parties to have their say on which sites they would like to be developed.

Councillor Ken Matthews, member for Sustainable Communities said: “The task of finding suitable sites is an important one. We are still at an early stage in this process and no decisions have been made at present.

Central Bedfordshire will not be taking any action without full and transparent consultation with all local communities.

Residents, including the Gypsy and Traveller community will be duly consulted on the results of this process when information on all possible sites has been gathered”.

Suggestions should be made by completing the downloadable form at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/planning/strategic-planning/gypsy-and-traveller-plan.aspx, email [email protected] or alternatively write to the Strategic Planning and Housing Team at Priory House, Monks Walk, Chicksands, Shefford SG17 5TQ

Completed forms must be returned by March 28 and a draft plan will be published for comment in Autumn.
