Water safety award nomination

Active Luton has been shortlisted for the UK's most important water safety awards.

The sport and leisure trust has been selected as one of the finalists for the prestigious Royal Life Saving Society UK and Institute of Qualified Lifeguards Awards 2016, which recognise and celebrate the vital contribution that centres make to water safety and drowning prevention.

Active Luton has been nominated for the Multi-Site Approved Training Centre Award (two to 15 sites) for its commitment to training and developing pool lifeguards as well as for its work in promoting water safety in the community.

The charitable trust provides employment opportunities and offers eight to 10 national pool lifeguard courses a year.

The winners will be announced on July 1 at Staverton Park in Daventry.
