Weight Watchers drop pounds for charity
Luton Foodbank has gained after local Weight Watchers cleared out their cupboards to help families in crisis.
Weight Watchers group leader Fiona Campion said: “Members have been donating unwanted Christmas treats along with essentials such as canned food and UHT milk.
“We also launched a campaign so new members could make a fresh start to regain control in the New Year by giving away food they no longer need for a good cause.”
She added: “Their generosity has been breathtaking. We have anything from 30 to 60 people attending meetings so we were able to make a sizeable donation.”
Luton mayor and Foodbank founder member Cllr Sheila Roden (above right) said she was grateful for Weight Watchers’ contribution and that the charity continued to thrive.
