Pictons spokeswoman Deborah Saini said: “We invited dementia champion Maria Collins from Home Instead to help us learn a little more about living with dementia and to turn that understanding into action.

“Anyone of any age can be a Dementia Friend and discover small ways in which they can make a big difference to people affected by this terrible, incurable condition.”

Maria – chair of Luton Dementia Action Alliance – said: “I used my nursing skills to care for my parents, through their own long-term illnesses, so understand the impact of dementia on the individual and the family.”
She added: “I hope to inspire everyone to become a Dementia Friend as they will find it so fulfilling.”
