Budding Whipsnade art students took part in an exposed outside challenge for ‘explosion drawing’ and ‘painting the flora’.

Pupils at Dr Lorna Moore’s Creative Art Course visited Wyevale Garden Centre, Tring, to draw and paint its beautiful flowers and plants, while customers asked them about their working methods.

Former student, Susan Clarke, said: “I just loved being outdoors; I lost my inhibitions and I felt free to express myself.”

Jeremy White, student, said: “It makes art less frightening and the public can see it is done by the everyday person. You are also at one with nature.”

Gill Rowan Wild, student, said: “Before my experience of being taught by Dr Lorna, I could never paint or draw outdoors. Working with a group has really helped my confidence rather than working on my own.”

Meanwhile, Wyevale manager Phil Goodings, added: “This was a great event to have in our garden centre!”
