Youngsters racing for life

Children, parents and staff of Tithe Farm Primary in Dunstable ran the Race for Life to raise money for Cancer Research last week.

It was a blistering hot afternoon but this did not stop the fun. The younger children ran a lap around the school field. The older the children got, the further they ran. Years five and six, who are the oldest children in the school, ran 5 laps. Each lap is approximately 1km so the standard 5km was achieved. Lots of parents turned up to support the effort and many of them ran alongside their children. This helped keep the children motivated. The Mayor attended and helped to present medals to all the children as they passed the finish line.

The staff supervised the children but still found time to run. Sponsor money is still being handed in and the total is in excess of £1700. The final total raised will be published on the school’s website.

Tithe Farm now plans to repeat its fundraising event next year.
