Royal wedding: who is on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's guestlist?

The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle promises to be a grand affair, with hundreds set to attend the ceremony and celebrate the happy couple in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Invitations to the nuptials on Saturday (19 May) were issued to around 600 guests, who will attend the ceremony at St George's Chapel and afternoon reception given by the Queen.

A further 200 close friends have been invited to the after-party at Frogmore House, hosted by Prince Charles.

Who will be attending?

Charity workers, veterans and community heroes who spend their time helping others have been favoured on the guest list instead of the usual roll call of political leaders, and some members of the public have been invited to the castle grounds to enjoy the festivities.

Royal sources have said the guestlist will be restricted to those who have a direct relationship with the couple, with the reason being the relatively small size of St George's Chapel (which holds 800 people) and because Prince Harry is not in the direct line of succession.

The Royal Family

It almost goes without saying, but the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, who has been confirmed as the groom's best man, will both be in attendance, along with their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who is expected to be a part of the bridal party.

However, those hoping to catch a glimpse of Prince Louis will be left disappointed as the newborn will be kept away from the public eye.

The Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall are all due to attend, while Lady Jane Fellowes, the sister of the late Princess Diana, will deliver the reading.

She will be joined by her siblings Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer.

Other royalties include The Duchess and Duke of York, along with daughters Princess Beatrice and Eugenie of York, as well as The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Kent, The Princess Royal, and the Queen's granddaughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike.

Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, who together with Prince Harry founded the Sentebale charity in 2006 to help vulnerable children in the country, is also likely to be present.

Meghan's Family

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, will be present at the wedding although her father, Thomas Markle, is rumoured to no longer be attending after reportedly not wanting to cause his daughter embarrassment.

Meghan's half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, is a possible guest, while her half-sister Samantha Grant is rumoured not to have been invited.

Friends of the royal couple

Tom Inskip, renowned party animal and friend of Prince Harry since their Eton days, is sure to attend the nuptials on Saturday. The 30 year-old is the son of Owen Inskip, a friend of the Prince of Wales and David Cameron.

Lizzy Wilson, heiress to the Holiday Inn empire, is also rumoured to be attending along with her husband Guy Pelly, as well as Jake Warren, the son of the Queen's racing manager and godson of Princess Diana.

Indian actress, producer and singer Priyanka Chopra is confirmed to be attending, alongside stylist and close friend of Meghan, Jessica Mulroney, who is thought to have been advising the bride on her wedding dress.

American fashion designer Misha Nonoo, former Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, actress Janina Gavankar and Meghan's former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer are all also expected to be present.

Sir Elton John reportedly cancelled two dates of his global farewell tour on May 18 and 19, suggesting it was in order to attend the wedding, while The Spice Girls, Ed Sheeran, Serena Williams, Cara Delevingne and Victoria and David Beckham are among the other celebrities rumoured to be attending.

Who won't be attending?

Following a decision to exclude political leaders from the guestlist, it has been confirmed that US president Donald Trump has not been invited to the wedding, nor will Prime Minister Theresa May, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn or former US President Barack Obama.

And pop singer Rihanna won't be there either, after her humourous response to that very question this week.
