The Grand Union Canal has been closed between Rickmansworth and Leighton Buzzard as water is drained off.

The reservoirs are all full and there is now nowhere for the water to go with surrounding fields at bursting point, with some anglers having been caught out by the rising waters.

Prior to the floods hitting the Grand Union Canal, Warren Guess and his father Steve enjoyed another busy winter day-time session.

The pair had 12 runs resulting in 10 carp, the best a 22lb 12oz mirror that fell to Warren.

Rising water levels on the adjacent River Great Ouse pushed the zander into the South Lagoon and Simon Heath was there to land a specimen zander of 14lb 9oz along with two others of 7lb and 5lb, plus pike of 11lb and 7lb 8oz.

Meanwhile, at North House Lake, John Hansell managed a 17lb common, with Terry Willison the King Of The Pond photo competition winner for January.
