North House Lake is currently suffering from a blue/green toxic algae outbreak, while all section on the River Great Ouse are fishing well for all species.

Marvin Gayford snared a 23lb 7oz mirror from the Grand Union Canal, while at the South Lagoon there are still lots of roach and skimmers with Daniel Wells catching lots of bream to 5lb.

At North House Lake, Josh Hammersley had four commons, including fish of 25lb 12oz and 20lb 2oz and the common known as the Baby Lobe-Tailed at 24lb 4oz, while Ashley Irvine commons of 13lb 4oz and 11lb 1oz.

Vauxhall AC

The first two matches of the season on the Manor Lake at Tingrith have produced phenomenal results.

First time round George Kaye triumphed with 134lb 3oz, Paul Caton was runner-up with 71lb 3oz, Mick Stanley third with 62lb 15oz and Tony Kaye fourth 56lb.

The following 10 nets of fish ranged from 47lb 15oz to 22lb 4ozs with a match total of over 660lb for the day.

Last week’s match saw another dominating performance by Kaye who won out with 107lb 1oz.

Barry Cowley was second with 61lb 9oz and Caton third with 61lb 7oz, while the following 11 nets ranged from 45lb to 11lb giving a match total of 644lb.

Manor Lake, Woodlands and The Mere continue to be extremely popular for day anglers, offering a full range of species including Rudd and Crucians.

The third of the river matches on the Great Ouse at Kempston, fished on the August 18, saw Caton victorious with 14lb 5oz, Steve King second with 13lb 3oz and Bill Denton and Neil Shearn equal third with 13lb 2oz.

Of the remaining six anglers weights ranged from 10lb to 2lb. Nearly all fish were Dace and good prime roach, which reflects the river’s overall water quality and bio-diversity.

Matches at Tingrith are limited to members only, but the river matches are open to all and a small peg fee applies.

The pits at Sharnbrook continue to produce fish, with Matt Whittaker capturing a 23lb common last week.

This season there have also been reports of tench to over 10lb, bream to 12lb and carp to 33lb.
