Angling round-up: Anderson catches personal best

Six-year-old Lutonian Callum Anderson caught a personal best 15lb 12oz mirror carp from the Grand Union Canal with just a little help from his dad.

At Beckerings Reservoir, Mark Woolley had five carp in an afternoon up to 17lb 6oz fishing zigs, Steve Sharp claimed a 17lb 8oz mirror and a 6lb 14oz bream fishing zigs and Pawel Lesniak a 28lb common.

Josh Hammersley caught five carp to 27lb 4oz from North House Lake, while Darren Woodford snared the mirror known as The Wanderer at 30lb 8oz.

On the match scene Luton AFC fished the Grand Union Canal at Slapton last Sunday and found the going pretty tough with the usual bream pegs failing to produce.

There was victory for T Boyce with 12lb 1oz, G Burgoyne was runner-up with 11lb 6oz and M Benito third on 8lb 4oz.

Weights were made up or bream and perch, while the odd carp was hooked and lost, as Enfield Highway fished the Grand Union Canal at Slapton on Sunday.

T Mann triumphed with 20lb 10oz, J Fisher was second with 16lb 6oz and T Fisher third on 15lb.
