ATHLETICS: Kimpton and Keane do the double

Luton AC sponsored by Gibbs and Dandy ran the final Chiltern League Cross Country Division One race at Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes to finish eighth.

The Senior men’s race was convincingly won by Luton’s Ian Kimpton as he finished nearly 40 seconds clear to take the individual mens title too.

Rhys Lewis, who was 26th on the day finished sixth Junior in the overall standings, while making his cross country debut, Toby Johnston came a creditable 56th.

A double victory for Luton came later in the day when Rosie Keane won the Ladies race, also taking the overall title.

Christine Lathwell (14th) ran well and took the league overall V35 title.

In the final team standings, only the U15 boys were medallists, taking bronze, as Luke King was disappointed to again finish as fourth individual.

The only other athlete to feature in the top 100 was U11 runner Leah Jay as she came sixth, with Ben Abubacker,Antonio Khan,Georgia Nunn,Libby Jay and Euan Turner featuring in the top 20 in their respective age groups.
