ATHLETICS: Luton AC head to Scotland

Luton AC’s athletes made the long journey to Stirling, Scotland, to take part in the British University and Colleges Cross-Country Championships recently.

John McDonnell, competing for St Mary’s College, London, finished eighth, tying with Jack Goodwin who was running for the University of Bedfordshire.

St Mary’s team-mate Daniel Woodgate came 13th to help the college win the men’s team title.

Local runner Rebecca Murray also helped Birmingham University win the ladies team title finishing in 13th place. On the road racing scene, Luton’s new signing Ian Kimpton made his debut in the Alsager five-mile race.

He failed to match his sub 24mins record in the recent Wolverton five finishing fifth in 24.47mins in a quality field.
