BADMINTON: Double gold for dashing Dalvi

Luton badminton starlet Nadeem Dalvi won his first double gold in the boys singles and boys doubles at the Berkshire U12 (Margaret Tipton) tournament recently.

The youngster, who attends Bedford Modern School and is part of the England U13 set-up, was seeded number one in the singles tournament.

Dalvi had a bye in the first round, before defeating Isum Arachchige 21-12 in the quarter-finals and Michael Pang 21-14 in the semi-final.

That saw him take on second seed Charlie Castle in the final, where Dalvi edged a close contest 21-19.

Dalvi then paired up with Oliver Butler in the U12 doubles event, as they eased past Jolyon Ellis and Harvey Zhang 21-7, before defeating Arya Admane and Dominic Nabasa 21-9 to reach the final.

They then came up against Thomas Ley and Michael Pang, triumphing 21-17 to lift the trophy.
