Bakare and Blair compete in Bedford International Games

Luton athlete Sabrina Bakare came third in the 400m SW A2 event at the Bedford International Games held at the weekend.

The 18-year-old clocked 53.64secs to finish behind Victoria Ohuruogu (52.71secs) and Amy Allock (53.28secs).

Bakare is next in action at the Word Trials, also held in Bedford on June 21/22.

Luton’s Jo Blair also competed at the event, finishing seventh in the women’s javelin event, throwing 45.19m, with the competition won by Olympian Goldie Sayers with 59.34m.

Meanwhile, fellow Lutonian Dereece O’Callaghan ran a fantastic 400m season best time of 49.21secs to gain his English schools qualifying time while competing for Shaftesbury Barnet in the Youth Development League at Bromley.

At the same event, Eavion Richardson clocked a massive PB of 11.94secs in the 80m hurdles also giving her National standard for the English schools.

She then recorded 5.84m for the long jump, just 1cm short of her PB.

Meanwhile, Shaquille Thomas Brown ran the 400m hurdles in 54.7secs too.
