Bakare makes GB World Junior squad

Luton athlete Sabrina Bakare has been named in the Great Britain team to take part in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Oregon on July 22-27.

The 18-year-old, who won the 400m at the same event in Donetsk last year, tweeted: “Any opportunity to represent your country is a great opportunity!

“Proud to say I will be representing GB juniors in the 4x4 at the WJ.”

Meanwhile, Bakare ran a season’s best of 53.44secs to finish third in the 400m at the Bauhaus Juniorengala in Mannheim, Germany on Saturday.

Home athlete Lauran Muller won in 52.91secs, while second was Juste Modesta Morauskaite from Lithuania in 53.18secs.
