Up against a field that included Olympian Goldie Sayers, the 30-year-old produced a lifetime best throw of 57.44m to defeat her main rival, who could only manage 54.98m in response.

Blair, who is a self-funded athlete, now has a few weeks to try and throw 60m, a feat she has already managed in training, to get her Great Britain vest and head to the European Championships.

She then needs to break the 62m barrier on two separate occasions to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio and can only do that a grade 3 meeting, which she has this weekend with a UK Women’s league match at Lee Valley in Enfield.
