Devine sets sights on Alexander rematch after Deakin victory

TON fighter Michael Devine has set his sights on a bout with Mark Alexander after notching his seventh professional victory at the weekend, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a comprehensive points triumph over Robin Deakin in Brentwood on Saturday night, and is now targeting the 36-year-old, who handed him his only pro defeat back in April 2010.

Devine, who is back in the ring at York Hall on Saturday, July 7, hasn’t ruled out fighting another local boxer in Danny Mulhern either, who has won his two pro bouts, as he said: “Alexander is the one I want, I know that I can beat him now.

“He’s a tricky opponent, but James (Paisley, Devine’s trainer) has said he needs us more then we need him.

“Graham Earl has been talking up Danny Mulhern too and if he wants to fight, I’ve no problem with that.

“I know Danny quite well, but haven’t really talked to him since he went to Graham.

“If he wants that, then he can get in touch with my manager.”
