Earl, who had waited seven years for his chance to enter the ring with Katsidis again after a controversial defeat at Wembley, was under pressure from the opening round.

The Australian stayed close to Earl and unleashed some powerful blows, with the Lutonian forced to slug it out against his opponent.

The second half of the fight saw an exhausted Earl, in his first professional fight for five years under a barrage of pressure.

To his credit he stayed on his feet and lasted the 12 rounds, although Katsidis took the decision 119-108, 120-108 and 120-109.
