Luton’s Graham Earl is hoping to ‘close the book’ on his boxing career when he takes on rival Michael Katsidis in Australia on July 4.

The two who fought in 2007 with Katsidis winning in the fifth round, have now finally agreed a rematch some seven years years later.

Earl admitted it had been the one opponent who could tempt him out of retirement, as he said: “It’s the only fight I want, it’s the fight I need to be able to close the book altogether then move on with my life.

“I’ve got other opportunities, got very good people around me and I want this fight to close the chapter.”

Although hoping the fight brings some sort of closure, Earl also believes that if he can take his record to 27 wins from 31 bouts with victory, then the prospect of a third meeting in England would be on the cards.

He continued: “I don’t want to look past this fight, but if I beat him and beat him well which I plan to do, there will be a trilogy.”
