Gill gains points win for Shamrock

Gill set his stall out from the start with stiff jabs that met James on the way in and, whilst his opponent was game enough, Gill showed the superior boxing skills to edge a close first round.

The second saw Gill up his work-rate, again working behind a stiff jab.

His combinations started to catch James almost at will, while James tried to force his way inside with a head down and wild swinging approach.

Gill, though, displayed footwork beyond his years to smartly avoid the attacks and counter with his own.

James seemed resigned to defeat in the third round as Gill piled on the pressure and refused to allow his opponent to settle. On the same bill, Farley’s F Storey beat L McCallister (Norwich) by a majority decision.

Shamrock are holding their home show, sponsored by Flatbase Ltd, this Saturday at the Vauxhall Recreation Centre in Luton.
