Grimes suffers Moises defeat

SHAMROCK fighter Duane ‘Bang Bang’ Grimes forgot his boxing as he went chasing a knockout in his 40-36 points defeat to Scott Moises at York Hall, Bethnal Green on Sunday.

Grimes, 29, dominated the proceedings in the first round with his power punching, but allowed himself to get caught on the way, which became the story of the fight.

Moises, 23, from Aylsham in Norfolk, prevented Grimes from getting a head of steam up with his grab and run tactics, which he did effectively throughout the fight.

Moises survived the first round when he got caught flush by a Grimes left hook, but proved his resilience as he grabbed and hung on until his head cleared.

Grimes continued to catch his opponent with the harder, cleaner punches, but could not follow up as Moises claimed victory.

The Lutonian now has a record of one win and three defeats and fights in London again on Monday, November 21.

Unfortunately Olymic bronze medallist Bobby George had to pull out of his fight due to personal reasons, while Marco Stephenson was prevented from fighting after the BBBoC doctor had detected something in his eye which he was unhappy with.
