Herol Graham the star guest for Academy event

The Academy Luton ABC’s volunteer coaches are busy putting the finishing touches to their final home event of the season, to be held at Luton Rugby Club this Saturday.

And the donation-run boxing club has once again reached for the stars by securing a special guest appearance from the former British and European light-middleweight champion, Herol ‘Bomber’ Graham.

Graham strung a 38-fight winning streak while in his pomp during the 1980s and fought for the world title three times.

Yet the Nottingham-born southpaw has never forgotten his roots after nailing a string of ABA titles before turning professional under the guidance of Brendan Ingle in 1978.

Academy boxers will have to be on their game as Saturday’s event promises one of the strongest line-ups yet. A dozen other clubs from all over the region are sending down their finest young talents.
