Colts hope to lean from running lesson

Dunstablians Colts were taught a lesson in running rugby by a powerful Market Harborough outfit on Saturday as they bowed out of the National Colts Cup with a 26-0 first round defeat.

A much stronger pack showed up the home side, who were weakened by call-ups to the East Midlands Colts for hooker David Tuffen and flanker Jack Bramston, while captain Harry Barter was given a chance for the first team senior squad.

Dees did themselves proud though, fielding nine U17s in their starting line-up as they performed well to keep the deficit to 14-0 at half time.

Although the hosts gave a good account of themselves, with a notable display from youngster Alex Godliman in the back-row, they eventually went down 26-0 to a team top of their league and expected to go well in the competition.

Dees will benefit from the experience and look to bounce back this week as they take on Buckingham in East Midlands League South.
