The 279-run success against a Free Foresters Friendly XI at Oxford gave their top order batsmen useful time at the crease and they took full advantage.

Opener Thurstance led the way with 143 off just 100 balls. He, together with Ben Howgego, piled on 181 for the first wicket. Callum Berrill then smashed 84 off 65 balls, enjoying a century partnership with Andy Reynoldson (42) as Bedfordshire amassed 364-5 off 50 overs.

The reply was almost over before it started as Foresters crumbled to 7-4, opening bowlers Colin Griggs (4-10) and Kadeer (3-23) ripping through the hosts’ top order. They were finally skittled for just 85.
