Champions left stunned as Cricketers triumph

LUTON Cricketers shocked reigning Premier Division champions Luton Haiderys on Tuesday night as they registered their first win of the season.

Haiderys elected to bat first and could only manage 92 despite Kambar Shah smashing 40 as Nadeem Akhtar (4-24) destroyed their top order, receiving good supported by Khizer Manzoor (2-28).

In reply, Zulfikaq Hussain (24) and Basit Abdul (20) formed a good partnership to take their team home.

Luton Pakistanis remain at the top of the table as they overpowered Kashmir Cavaliers who had set them 119.

Pakistanis had Mohammed Haroon in good form as his knock of 42 proved vital in their final over victory.

Luton Hawks hammered 133-8 in their allotted 16 overs against Luton CC, with Naeem Ahmed (34) and Shahid Hussain (30) among the runs.

Tanweer Hussain then took 4-28 and Mohammad Irshad claimed 3-20 as they bowled Luton CC out for 118 to move into second spot.

Lions CC put up a huge total against AKCC, hitting 142-4 thanks to Rasib Khan’s 50 not out and Nazakat Khan, who chipped in with 29.

AKCC were looking to close the gap on the leaders Pakistanis and made a good fist of their reply as Ghulam Rasool scored 24 but Rizwan Khan (2-35) led the bowling well for Lions as AKCC made 128-8.

Kingsway CC registered their sixth consecutive win of the season to stay top of Division One.

Against Haiderys Tigers the batsmen were all in good nick as Sanjay Chandarana (28) gave his team a solid start, before Omraiz Khan continued his fine form with the bat, smashing his second fifty of the season in an unbeaten 51 and Zahoor Malik made 28.

Haiderys got off to a decent start thanks to Zubair Ahmed (20) but Umar Afzal took 3-13 in an outstanding spell to skittle Tigers out for 123.

Majestics are the other team in form as they remain second after beating The Saracens.

Majestics once again had Raza Iqbal (37) in good touch as they blasted away to reach 142-6.

The Saracens could only reach 120-8 with Rahoof Khan making 28, while Majestics bowlers Tahir Iqbal (2-24) and Assad Rashid (3-19) were among the wickets.

Shaheen CC were comfortable winners after they restricted Luton Saracens to 101-8 with Khalid Mehmood top scoring with his 31, while Saeed Jaral claimed 3-21.

Jaral rounded off a superb all-round performance by hitting an unbeaten 36 to lead Shaheen to victory.

AKXI posted 124-7 against Luton United Stars thanks to fine knocks from Ejaz Butt (25) and Assad Khalil (27).

In reply, LU Stars were dismissed for 115 with only Naseer Ahmed contributing, with 28.
