Cherry and Alston claim four but Dunstable fall well short

With the longer format of the game resuming, opposed to the straight 50-over matches, Dunstable skipper Brad Matthews elected to bowl first.

Mike Alston and Sam Cherry took four wickets apiece as the hosts were dismissed for 177.

However, Dunstable then folded, managing just 128 all out as Luke Cherry top-scored with 32.

The thirds drew at Brayford and Hertford in Division Eight B after only mustering 154 largely thanks to Phil Lewis (80) and Adam Lewis (38).

Dunstable’s bowlers then excelled, restricting Brayford and Hertford to 117-8 as Kyle McSwiggan, Ciaran Newton, Ayaz Ahmed and Baz Mehmood took two wickets each.

Rain prevented the seconds and fourths playing, while on Sunday, Dunstable were too strong for Flitwick in the Beds County League Premier Division, winning by 28 runs.

Guy Hill and Terry Carr both scored 31 as Dunstable reached 190, with Flitwick all out for 162, Awais Khan returning figures of 3-15.

The seconds travelled to Luton Town & Indians II in Division Two and lost by 30 runs. Indians made 198-8 as Mohsen Haffeez took 3-11, with Dunstable held to 168-9, Ian Horton scoring 43.

The thirds fell short by 40 runs at home to Sandy in Division Three.

Lewis Ross picked up two wickets in the visitors’ 180, bit Dunstable were bowled out for 140 in reply.
